Blue Heron Cottage
Blue Heron Cottage is the largest cottage on the property.
This unique cottage cannot be duplicated under current Georgia Power Lake’s building rules since the cottage actually extends over
the lake with a lattice enclosed boat house under the covered upstairs porch and the living room.
Access into the boat house is either from the outside through a door opening from a small dock attached to the west side of the cottage or
through the cottage basement. The basement has a great storage room with concrete floor; the remainder of the basement is dirt floored.
The main entrance to the cottage opens into a large room that is the living room and kitchen with glass doors to the covered porch. The
cottage is total electric and has zoned thermostat controlled heating and air (motel type units). There are overhead fans in the bedroom
and living room and also on the covered porch.
The refrigerator has an ice maker and the electric stove is a year old. The hot water heater is two years old. The only cottage needing
a lift pump to the septic tank (due to its site below the tank field), the pump system was completely replaced in 2006.
Blue Herron cottage has a large bedroom with a sitting/office area. Sliding glass doors open to a large open deck with a view of the lake.
This cottage has a large bath and a large closet. The bedroom, bath and connecting hallway have painted beadboard which further enhances
the cottage charm of Blue Herron. This cottage has excellent cabinet and storage space and is used by the present owner as their personal
lake cottage.
